TDS's Academic CD

Robert Mott's Applied Fluid MechanicsFor a third time, academic versions of HYDROFLO, PumpBase and HCALC are being included with Robert Mott's College level textbook "Applied Fluid Mechanics" published by Prentice Hall, now in its 6th Edition. We enjoy our ongoing relationship with college level engineering educators and students. If you aren't using this highly regarded textbook in your college engineering courses, you should be! But you can still purchase the academic CD direct from us.

Software On The Academic CD...

HYDROFLO™ 2.0 - Piping System Design Software

HYDROFLO (more detail) makes the design and analysis of fluid conveyance systems easy. HYDROFLO employs a "drag and drop" interface that allows a designer to easily build fluid transport systems containing pipes, pumps, fittings, valves, gauges and other more complex elements. The steady-state flows and pressures in single source/single discharge, re-circulating and gravity flow systems are quickly and accurately determined. Up to 10 lines can be modeled. The academic version restricts HYDROFLO's capacity to building smaller systems (view the readme.txt file). Once HYDROFLO determines a piping system's TDH (total dynamic head) and operating conditions, a single click launches PumpBase and transfers all operating point data. PDF reports are available along with graphic plots of lines and pump curves. Mass editing features have been added in version 2.0 and now groups of elements can be "captured" and moved to and from the new clipboard feature and within lines.

PumpBase™2.0 - Advanced Pump Selection

PumpBase (more detail) will find the best pump for your fluid conveyance application. Enter a system's TDH, desired flow, fluid properties and the pumps that meet your requirements are listed in order of efficiency. You can optionally enter suction head, NPSHA and system curve data to further refine your pump search. 40 additional selection criteria such as type of pump, particle size and orientation are also available.

PumpBase includes a database of over a thousand curves from more than 40 manufacturers. Once the pumped liquid's description is specified, standard centrifugal viscosity corrections can be automatically applied to all curves. Pump performance curves with iso-efficiency and iso-NPSHR (Net Positive Suction Head Available) lines are available and the design and actual operating points are plotted along the system curve. Detailed reports are created that can be submitted to pump manufacturers or sales representatives for further application verification and price quotes. Database editing capabilities are also provided so that users can enter their own pump curves and liquid properties.

New HCALC 1.0 - Pipe Flow Calculator

HCALC (more detail) is a versatile tool that performs many useful full pipe pressurized head loss, diameter and flow calculations and also unit conversions. Like all of TDS's products, HCALC is fully customizable, offers all common international units and works with any incompressible liquids. HCALC can load at startup and remain resident -- ready to be used on top of any application to perform checks on any full pipe pressurized flow calculation.

Several databases and data lists are available for ease of use: pipe schedules, nominal diameters, liquid properties and pipe specific roughness.
